Vaccinations & Injection Services

  • Seasonal Influenza (Flu Shot)

As the best defence against influenza infection & illness, influenza immunization is recommended, annually, for all Albertans six months of age and older.

Albertans five years of age and older can get immunized at the pharmacy.

  • Shingles

Shingles is caused by a virus. The shingles virus, also called the varicella zoster virus, is the same one that causes chickenpox.

As we age, our immune system naturally weakens. As a result, the shingles virus may reactivate, increasing the risk of developing shingles.

The National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) recommends SHINGRIX for adults 50 years of age and older.

  • Pneumococcal

Vaccination against pneumonia is an important preventive health care measure that substantially reduces the burden of pneumococcal disease. Pneumococcal vaccination is indicated for adults with risk factors for pneumococcal disease or for severe adverse outcomes should disease occur.

  • HPV

The HPV vaccine helps protect individuals against human papillomavirus (HPV) that can cause diseases, such as genital warts, and HPV-related cancers.

  • dTap (Tetanus)

Tdap vaccination is recommended in every pregnancy and is publicly covered (for Albertans) for pharmacy administration.

It helps protect your baby during the first few months of life, especially against pertussis. It is best if you get the dTap vaccine when you are between 27 and 32 weeks pregnant.

Tetanus vaccines/boosters are also recommended for the general public (every 10 years), but accessing it through Alberta Public Health for this purpose is often a more cost-effective option.
